Chilpyk (II-IV century) — Asia Travel

chilpikIt is located at 43 kilometers to the south from Nukus city, and is, presumably, the ritual construction of pre-Islamic culture. It was built on a volcanic hill pyramid shape. The construction material is clay, taken from the Amu Darya River’s sediments and adobe brick, made ??from the same clay. The construction is considered to be a round building with a diameter of about 70 meters and a height of 15 meters.
According to archaeologists, Chilpyk is a ritual construction of zaratustras. Here, died people were left until the bones became clean of flesh and their subsequent burial in ossuaries.
In the next centuries, the building was used as a lookout tower, and even a jail.
